ABOUT CARA

Image-1 (23).jpg

"We come into the world naked and gorgeous, but somewhere along the way, we are taught to loathe ourselves."

Cara Loconte is an Australian based professional artist and author. She works as a coach at Milan Art Institute, helping students to navigate the early phases of the intensive 12-month Mastery Program, helping them to overcome resistance and self doubt.

Through a dynamic process using mixed media and oil paint, Cara creates her own layered artworks, which often merge portraits and animals with nature. Her art and her writing explores light and dark, both visually and emotionally, reflecting the complexity of the human experience.

Inspired by the work of Frida Kahlo and Gustav Klimt, in her paintings she uses bright colours, fauna and flora as symbolic extensions of self, inviting viewers to form an emotional connection with the work. Through her work, she hopes to raise awareness around issues like endometriosis and domestic violence, giving voice to experiences which are often unseen.

Cara draws inspiration in her fictional work from Nicholas Sparks and JoJo Moyes, loving how the authors tackle complex family and relationship dynamics in a heart warming way.

Cara graduated from the Milan Art Gallery Mastery Program in 2024. Her work has been on display at the Joy Collective in Maleny, where she also completed a large mural. Cara's work has also been selected as a finalist in the 'Little Treasures' competition at Milan Art Gallery in Sarasota Florida and was exhibited at the Loft Gallery, Arts Connect pop up gallery and MADE Sunshine Coast Art Fair in November 2025. She has also been selected to be part of the Teravarna FOCUS art fair's digital showcase in New York City from 21-24 May 2026.
