BEYOND THE BLUE COLLECTION

Sometimes we feel like we're drowning, life demands a lot and keeping your head above water involves prioritising time for yourself to recharge, to breathe again. This work was inspired by Ophelia, who was supposedly oblivious to her own demise, and is a reminder to slow down and take a breath.

Cockatoos are growing louder and bolder, their cheeky calls and antics rising to meet the noise of our world. Their resilience and adaptability are remarkable, but also a wake-up call, reminding us to listen to nature.

I learned about Caladrius: a Roman mythical bird that was said to bring healing. According to mythology, this snow-white bird lived in the kings house and was able to absorb the sickness of others, flying away and healing both itself and the sick person. This legend is based on a real bird, which could have been a dove or a water bird like the heron

Some cultures believe the bluebird is a spirit in animal form, it’s song associated with the rising sun, this painting is a homage to this little cutie

In this painting they represent the quiet magic of the changing seasons, and a gentle reminder from nature that change is a part of life and like birds on the wind, we can choose to move in flow with it

This artwork was created at a time of personal transformation where my resilience has been tested to it's limits. It represents humans ability to find the strength to break through obstacles and emerge stronger on the other side, just as the horse pushes through the flowers and branches.  

This piece is not only my largest to date, but also my most vulnerable. Through this process, I’ve seen stronger skills, deeper clarity, and a newfound confidence in my artistic voice. This is more than a painting, it marks a milestone in my journey, where darkness has given way to light, and I rise, sovereign over my story.
